Palin CRUSHED Biden last night!

Published by BobO at 10:50 am under politics Edit This

We knew going in to the debate last night that the main stream media was already in the tank for Biden - so - it doesn’t surprise me that all those talking heads and main stream papers are saying Biden pulled out on top.  However, I will give Ifill some credit - despite being a HUGE Obama supporter (after all - she is writing a book about him) - she remained somewhat fair.  While both had about equal time - the only thing I saw regarding her moderation is that she allowed Biden to have the final say on a majority of the discussions.

Now - back to the original topic - Sarah Palin was absolutely marvelous last night.  She was very charming, witty, and nailed Biden on all of his lies.  Unlike McCain who did not directly point out Obama’s blatant lies and distortions - Palin used Biden’s own words from past debates and political speeches to point out his hypocrisy.  Great job there Sarah!  There were only a couple things that I really disagreed with Sarah Palin on - one being the $5000 health care tax credit.  While I am not in support of the Obama Universal Healthcare Plan - I did like the fact Palin pointed out the fact that if government can’t even regulate and control the financial sector - why in the heck would we want them to run our healthcare program?  But - back to that tax credit - the fact she did not respond to the idea that we the people would be taxed on it as income says to me that is true.

First - I disagree with the whole tax credit thing in the first place.  It is not up to government to provide health care to the people.  Health insurance didn’t even become part of the national landscape until the 1930’s and then with the New Deal and Medicare - it blossomed.  Health insurance is a luxury item.  The problem is that people aren’t focusing on the actual problem - the increased costs of health care.  Health care itself should be affordable.  Giving everyone health insurance doesn’t help that problem - it only helps to keep costs going up.  If you want to fix the access to health care problem - fix the health care system itself.  Get rid of all those tort lawyers and their multi-million dollar settlements.  This is the biggest cost to health care and it has nothing to do with direct care of patients.  Physicians and hospitals have to carry these huge liability policies that are factored in to the prices.  Next - invest in the technology to make it cheaper.  Technology is the second biggest cost associated with healthcare.  Providing health insurance is not the answer.  A $5000 tax credit to purchase your own insurance is still government subsidized health insurance.  The only one’s who really benefit from that plan are the insurers.  Secondly, if you’re going to give a tax credit - don’t tax it.  That’s just plain stupid.

The  only other thing I didn’t agree with is the same thing I disagreed with McCain on - when Biden attacked the Bush administration for the economic turmoil and blamed wallstreet and mortgage lenders - Palin did not fight back and put the blame where it rightfully belongs - Fannie Mae/Freddie Mack and the Community Reinvestment Act of 1977.  She too blamed “predatory lenders.”  The only reason there was a market for these types of loan vehicles was because of the aforementioned.  But - she let that one slide too!

The other thing I completely disagree with her and McCain on is the cap on carbon emissions.  First - if you don’t believe global warming is man-made - then why would you support a carbon credit wealth redistribution scheme that would harm the free-market capitalist system?

Overall,  she looked great and showed that she is ready to be the next VP - and, quite frankly, the next President.  She showed the American people that she is one of us.  No one believes Biden - the 30 year millionaire senator - when he gave that bullshit story about sitting around the kitchen table.  That was his dad - that was not him.  He hasn’t been middle-class since his 20’s.  She consistently nailed him on all of his points in his own words.  You can tell through his body language that he knew she got him.   I especially liked the way she nailed him on their surrender plan for Iraq.  Did you also notice that he couldn’t even remember General McClellan’s name?

Biden also proved he is completely out of touch when he emphatically stated that global warming is man-made…as if there were no debate…as if there aren’t 31,000 scientists who have come out against man-made global warming and the 2700 IPCC signatories…as if the top meteorologists and astronomers around the world haven’t come out and said global warming is cyclical and follows solar patterns.  He’s an idiot for believing it’s man-made when the IPCC and Al Gore’s claims have been completely and emphatically debunked.  It’s just another wealth redistribution socialist tax scheme.

Also - did anyone else notice that Biden looked wierd?  There is just something odd looking about him.  I couldn’t quite put my finger on it.

BREAKING!: American Voters In The Tank For Obama! Steve Schmidt claims intelligence bias, pushes for more mercury in water supply.

This just in from Reuters, today, the American people are one hundred percent “in the tank for Obama”, says McCain strategist Steve Schmidt.

“It’s despicable. These people are just ‘truth sheep’ and ‘informative voters’ with absolutely no imagination.”, said Schmidt on FOX News this morning. “After all we’ve done to deceive them, you’d think they’d be more appreciative. This is just mind-boggling.” A source close to the McCain campaign, speaking on a condition of anonymity, said, “I had a bad feeling this was going to happen. You know what they say, you can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still the most glaringly under-qualified and out of touch ticket in American history.”

When asked about this, John McCain said, “Life isn’t fair.” A spokeswoman for Sarah Palin added, “Joe Six-Pack hates America, also, gee willikers gosh darn it to H E double hockey sticks.”

In light of these recent developments, Bill O’ Reilly’s head exploded, and Rachel Maddow was given a Peabody Award.

Ahh…humor I can appreciate! Actually, that is pretty creative and funny. Good one - especially the “quote” from Palin.

I beg to differ. Palin did well but the opinions on global warming…. Who cares how it happened? They both agree on most solutions.

I read a whacky book on environmental stuff in my media ethics class in college that said everything from shampoo to diapers was going to kill me. It’s probably exaggerated and some of it is very real but you gotta weigh the risks of some things.

Hey Mikey - I just don’t buy in to any of that global warming stuff or the current proposed “solutions.” Global warming is cyclical - there’s not a whole helluva lot that man can do to stop the sun!

“I read a whacky book on environmental stuff in my media ethics class in college that said everything from shampoo to diapers was going to kill me”

Actually - what your book was referring to is called phthalates..and..it is correct. I read an article in the International Journal of Social Health Information Management regarding phthalates. Essentially, they are ubiquitous. They are in EVERYTHING. Phthalates are used as plasticizers and are used in cosmetics and all soft plastics (including diapers) and shampoos. The studies have proven that it causes cancer, causes testicular dysgenesis, thyroid problems in men, pubertal growth delays in young girls, and can be passed in-vitro as well as through breast milk to infants. In fact, phthalates have been banned in Europe and as of last October, California. The EPA continues to support the chemical manufacturers’ claims that it is harmless - but - there is enough clinical and scientific proof otherwise.

No..not an environmental nutjob here…just something I was researching during my studies.

Palin is so out of her depth, it’s truly not funny. “Shout outs”?? This isn’t a PTA meeting! She was unable to clearly answer a single question without the use of her notes, which she referred to way too often.

As for who cares about HOW global warming is ocurring, well, if you don’t know the cause, you can’t properly apply the best solution. Duh.

I’m sick of the winks, smiles, and jabs.

She’s a creationist, fundamentalist hockey mom sportscater beauty queen. That is NOT who this country needs at this critical point in our history.

She is a tool of the Republicans to help McCain get into office, nothing more. How mysogonistic can you get.

I think she’s got a lot of damn gall saying she’s for women’s rights, when in the same breath she can say she is anti-choice (or, pro-life -her spin). She wants to take women’s rights away, wants creationism taught in school, has no foreign policy clue at all, and is too embroiled in very controversial issues in her own family.

I’m sure she’d make a good local newsreader anchor. In Anchorage. But, that’s all….

    She is a post turtle.

Oh..okay..sure..just like Obama NEVER uses a teleprompter! Just like neither Biden nor Obama EVER referred to their notes during the debates.

We”ve seen what happens to Obama when he doesn’t have notes or a teleprompter - http://www.youtube.com/v/omHUsRTYFAU

I guess the fact that she’s gotten this far in politics means she doesn’t care about women’s rights? That’s pretty funny! Why? Just because she’s pro-life? There’s two sides to that issue bud. There are women out there that believe it is part of women’s rights to oppose abortion and to fight for the unborn child’s rights.

You’re just upset because she totally upstaged Biden - and is a helluva lot more appealing than Obama.
