Just wonderful! Here we go again!

Well, since Congressional Representatives couldn’t get the bail out bill passed on Monday - now the Senate has stepped in and is now trying to push this thing through.

Congress leaders optimistic on revived bailout
WASHINGTON (AP) - The Senate pushed toward passage Wednesday of a $700 billion financial industry bailout, and opposition to the package among House Republican conservatives appeared to be softening as well, thanks partly to a provision to increase insurance for people’s deposits. Congressional leaders from both parties said they were hopeful that a new version of the rescue plan could be cleared late this week despite its stunning House defeat on Monday that sparked a historic stock sell-off. House Democratic leaders tentatively planned a Friday vote.

This is just getting freakin ridiculous!  I thought the American people already stood up and said NO!  Why are they trying it again?  If there is anything in this bill of substance - it needs to call for a mandatory investigation of the failures of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and all those Democrats involved to include Chris Dodd, Barney Frank, Jamie Gorelic, and Barack Obama.  They also need to include in that bill a complete repeal of the Community Reinvestment Act of 1977.  That CRA and all subsequent updates to that bill is what caused this mess along with those crooked Democratic politicians and their buddies Jim Johnson and Frank Raines.  They all need to be thrown in jail.

Furthermore, they need to quit blaming this on Wall Street and the Republicans.  The Republicans have been asking for oversight of Fannie & Freddie and revisions to the CRA for decades now.  This is just another snow-job by those idiotic politicians on the hill.  Thow ‘em all out!

Scrambling to revive a package that met with bitter derision among constituents who viewed it as a giveaway to Wall Street, the Senate added sweeteners designed to please rural lawmakers, including disaster aid for hurricane-battered states and money for rural schools. The package was hitching a ride on a popular measure to require health plans for 51 or more employees to give equal treatment to mental health or addiction if they cover such illnesses.

What the fu@#?  See what I mean?  If this is supposed to be a bill designed to bail out the financial sector - why the hell are they still playing politics with this and adding shit like this to it?  This has absolutely no reason to bill in there!

House Democrats also asked senators to add a provision boosting the tax break for homeowners who do not itemize their tax returns. Another provision would extend the deductibility of state and local taxes for people in states without income taxes, which includes Florida and Texas.

Again - what bullshit is this?  If you don’t have enough deductions to itemize beyond the standard deductions - then, by doing this - this essentially gives those people an even larger break than those of us who do itemize!  This should not be in there either nor the part about extending the deductibility of state and local taxes - what the hell does that have to do with the mess that our government caused?

House Democratic Leader Steny Hoyer of Maryland said, however, he was concerned that the tax additions could complicate the chances of final congressional passage when the legislation comes back to the House floor for a vote.

There are worries that fiscally conservative House Democrats known as “Blue Dogs” will be repulsed by the tax breaks because they believe cuts should be bankrolled with spending cuts or other tax increases.

As the should be!!!  Good for them Blue Dogs!

The tax plan passed the Senate last week on a 93-2 vote. It included relief from the alternative minimum tax, $8 billion in tax relief for those hit by natural disasters in the Midwest, Texas and Louisiana, and some $78 billion in renewable energy incentives and extensions of expiring tax breaks. All told, it would cost about $112 billion over five years.

Again - so, friggin’ what!  Get this pork and incentives out of this bill.  It has no reason to be in there.  These are all separate items that should be placed in separate bills all their own!  I really hate politicians! Call your Senators now and tell them the same thing we told the Representatives - HELL NO!!!

UPDATE!  Apparently, the Senate passed it by a whopping 74-25 margin! And..it raises it to $850 Billion now because of all that crap they threw in there.  The house moves to vote on this thing on Friday.  You can go here to see who the smart Senators were that voted against it.  Surprising, my Dem senator voted against it and my idiot Republican senator voted for it.  Friggin idjit!  I won’t be voting for  him the next senatorial election cycle!

Just found this little tidbit as well - here’s some other CRAP they’ve thrown in that bill:

And there were plenty of obscure tax breaks to go around, like one for certain wooden arrows used by children, and another benefiting litigants in the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill.

I know, Tracy! That’s pretty much why I’m back on the fence with this character. While I think he is a much better choice than Obama - I just can’t get that bad feeling out of my conservative stomach about this guy.

I won’t be voting in any incumbents in November regardless of party - that’s why I joined that No Incumbents blogroll to the right there. I completely agree with that message. We need to change Washington and Congress completely! I only hope more can get on board with it.
