Oh! So NOW Jesus and Religion is allowed in politics!
Is this the most bogus bunch of shit you’ve ever heard or what? Those loony liberals have done absolutely everything they can do to keep religion out of our daily lives and the Democrats in D.C. and every government office across this country are complicit - AND NOW they decide to start invoking the Lord’s name?
Here is the Democrat talking point - or line - or whatever you want to call it.
“Jesus was a community organizer. Pontius Pilate was a Governor.” This is how the Dems are comparing Obama and Palin. How pathetic is that? If you don’t think this isn’t part of a smear campaign - here’s the headlines and here’s all the different people that are saying these EXACT words! Word-for-word!

In the 2006 Congressional elections, 14.5 million more Democrats voted than Republicans.
As of August, 5.5 million new Democrats are registered voters, with more every day.
If the election were held today, Obama would need 27 electoral votes to win, whereas McCain would need 73. That’s effectively one or two states for Obama vs. 4-7 states for McCain.
I don’t know where the quote came from, but it’s not contradictory to be religious, and still respect people that aren’t. To do otherwise puts the “mental” in fundamentalist. We are at war with people that think along those lines. The only difference between jihad and crusade are upon the lips of the mouths speaking the words.

I have good news for you: Steve Cohen isn’t running for President (though it is time for a Jew. . .).
Despite how tasteless Cohen’s comment might have been, the fact remains that Palin and Guiliani completely belittled the work of countless caring Americans. Everyone’s up in arms about pigs wearing lipstick, but when people get vehemently mocked for devoting their time and energy to making real change happen for everyday people, no one seems to give a damn.

-Third Degree - not entirely sure what your comment has to do with this post - but - while Dems might be making grounds in new registered voters - the total number of registered Republican voters still outnumbers them. What the Dems have to worry about is the total number of registered Independent voters. These are the ones who are now swaying the votes towards McCain as they start learning more about Obama and seeing how they are attacking Palin. Sorry - nice try.
Regarding your comments on religion - was there something in my post that indicated I’m against those who aren’t religious?
-Bill - ummm - are you referring to the comment regarding community organizers? Since Obama is trying to use his time as a “community organizer” as experience - it’s open to scrutiny. The boy scouts are freakin’ community organizers for crying out loud. There is nothing special about community organizing experience. It’s just people who walk around the neighborhood knocking on doors. I’m sorry - but - her comments were on target. It looks good on a resume’ or college application to say you were a community organizer - but - for those of us who actually know what community organizers do and are - it means nothing when you are looking for a real job. Besides - Jesus was NOT a community organizer. If anything, he was a missionary - which is a helluva lot different.
If you don’t think the media is liberally biased - you are REALLY far to the left then! A study out of Berkely proved it already. And, you know how far left Berkely is.

-Gray Kane - first - there is no such legal doctrine regarding “separation of church and state.” It is not found anywhere in the constitution. The only thing the 1st Amendment states is that CONGRESS will not support any particular religion. States and local governments may do as they wish. The Federal Government has overstepped their boundaries on that one. The phrase came from a letter written by Jefferson to the Danbury Baptist Convention and has been taken out of context ever since.
I wholeheartedly agree that religion should play no part in politics - but - when the Dems excoriate the Republicans and the President for their beliefs - and then decide to invoke the Lord’s name on the floor of the House of Representatives at their convenience - then - it has crossed a line. You can’t have it both ways.

Who says they have to? Keith Ellison took his oath on the Koran. There is no edict that says anyone taking an oath as to swear on the bible. They can swear on a freakin comic book if they wanted to. It’s the oath that matters - not the book.
